Celestial Vanguard
DECOMPOSITION — Solo Exhibition
Toss Gallery at La Doze, 1 Vilarа Street, Thessaloniki
15–29 October 2026, 20:00–00:00
TOSS Gallery presents “Celestial Vanguard”, a solo exhibition by Decomposition, and invites you to the opening on Thursday, 15 October.
At the heart of the exhibition lies “Celestial Vanguard”, a composition that offers a new artistic approach to mythological, martial and cosmological archives. Through celestial topographies and references to European literature and Eastern models, the artist re-examines how female power has been portrayed throughout history, moving beyond stereotypes of passivity, submission and constraint.
The works create a world in which the female presence is not a supporting element within a narrative, but an autonomous and uncompromising force. Mythology and folk knowledge resurface as material for an alternative reading of the relationship between knowledge, strategy, violence and power. At the same time, bodily autonomy and wild ecosystems take on an active role as sites of resistance to entrenched social and institutional structures.
Decomposition’s artistic practice moves between deconstruction and recomposition: familiar symbols and narratives are placed within a new context, where female power need not be justified, explained or measured against external judgments.
Nasia Stylidou (Decomposition) is an architect and image-maker. Her work combines hand-drawn ink illustrations with digital colour processing, alongside research and experimental publishing in the graphic arts.
